Section 3 |
Registered Agents |
| All states require a corporation
to have a registered agent. The purpose of the agent is for the service
of legal process. Any registered agent or domestic corporation of a
particular state may act as an agent. Registered agents, however, must
adhere to state laws which are specifically govern their duties. Some
states require a person to register and pay a fee prior to acting as
an agent for a corporation. The corporation laws outline the requirements
of being an agent and the penalties for failing to act in accordance
with the law.
Registered agent service businesses and attorneys are most commonly employed. The annual fee charged by registered agents range from modest to a couple hundred dollars per year. CRA of America, Inc. provides registered agent services in all 50 states. Incorporation fees quoted in Section 6 include the first year registered agent fee. The annual registered agent fee is $125 per year in any state, except Nevada, which is $110 per year. |
