Section 1 |
Selecting A Corporate Name In Any State |
| When deciding upon a name,
it is important to keep in mind that it should be distinguishable from
any other corporate name. Frequently, the state will refuse to reserve
a name because of similarity to another corporate name in the same state.
The corporate name must contain the word "company," "association," "syndicate," "limited," "corporation," "incorporated" or any one of the abbreviations "Co.," "Corp.," "Inc." or "Ltd." The purpose is to make outsiders and potential creditors aware that the owners have limited liability. Before actually incorporating, the name chosen for the business may be reserved. This will prevent anyone from using that name until the business is actually incorporated. The reservation period and cost vary by state. A list of name reservation fees by state follows. To reserve a name, just complete the "Corporate Name Reservation Form" in Section 8. Give us three corporate names in order of preference and we will reserve the first one available, at which time an acknowledgement will be returned to you. Once reserved, the name will be held for a designated period and will be ready for incorporation. If you would like CRA of America, Inc. to reserve a name for you, our fee is $30 plus the state reservation fee. Please complete the Corporate Name Reservation Form.
